Report on the Digital Reconstruction of the Obdorsk Ostrog Presented at the Plenary Program of the Congress “Citadel 1.0”
As part of the scientific program of the International Archaeological Congress “Citadel 1.0”, a report was presented focusing on the experience of digital reconstruction of historical fortifications.
The presentation titled “Obdorsk Ostrog of the 18th Century: Experience of 3D Modeling of a Fortress Based on the Results of Comprehensive Interdisciplinary Research” was delivered jointly with Oleg Viktorovich Kardash (ANO “Institute of Northern Archaeology”).
During the presentation, the team showcased the results of work on creating an accurate digital model of a historical fortification based on a comprehensive analysis of archival materials, archaeological data, and historical and architectural research.
The project demonstrates a modern approach to the reconstruction of historical sites, including:
— analysis of archival sources
— archaeological research
— development of conceptual reconstruction sketches
— creation of detailed 3D models
— preparation of visual materials for use in immersive environments
This approach makes it possible not only to preserve historical heritage in digital form, but also to use it for the creation of new formats of museum and tourism exhibitions.
Such projects serve as an example of how modern technologies help integrate science, culture, and digital tools into a unified research and educational environment.
