Yugra archaeologists and their partner, ENDI LLC (5SenseAR trademark), will participate in the International Archaeological Congress “Citadel 1.0.”

The Congress will take place in Saint Petersburg from April 1 to April 5, 2026

This international cultural and scientific event at the intersection of museum practice and academic research is organized by the State Museum of the History of Saint Petersburg and the Museum of Archaeology of Saint Petersburg in cooperation with the State Hermitage Museum, the Institute for the History of Material Culture of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Saint Petersburg State University, with the support of partners and the Government of Saint Petersburg.

Doctor of Historical Sciences Oleg Kardash (ANO “Institute of Northern Archaeology”, Center for Yugra Archaeological Research, Surgut State University), Candidate of Historical Sciences Georgy Vizgalov (Center for Yugra Archaeological Research, Surgut State University; NPO Northern Archaeology – 1 LLC), and architect Elena Petrova (NPO Northern Archaeology – 1 LLC) will present up-to-date scientific materials on the reconstruction of defensive structures of the first Russian towns in the north of Western Siberia — the Obdorsk Ostrog and the Berezov Kremlin.

Dmitry Trusov, Head of the development company ENDI LLC, will present the use of immersive technologies for AR scenarios in the creation of products for the tourism and education sectors based on architectural reconstructions developed by Yugra researchers.

In addition to the scientific forum, more than 50 events are planned within the framework of the Congress, including the exhibition “Acropolis. The Emergence of the Fortress.” Among other exhibits, it will feature 3D models of reconstructed fortresses Kayukovo 2 and the Obdorsk Ostrog, as well as video materials demonstrating the reconstruction process of Neolithic technologies and the stages of recreating lost architectural heritage.

The exhibition will be held at the Engineering House of the Peter and Paul Fortress from April 1 to May 1.

Project No. 25-1-007751 “Obdorsk Ostrog” is being implemented with the support of the Presidential Grants Foundation.

Scientific research is carried out within the framework of Project No. 2023-227-18 “Yugra Archaeology and Ethnography: Preservation and Study of Cultural Heritage in the Context of Oil and Gas Development in the North,” supported by the Department of Education and Science of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug — Yugra.
